17 Unknown Tips For First Time Dog Owner

Dogs are just like our family. If you are first time dog owner you surely want to provide them with best, keep them healthy and live a long life. No doubt, dogs are the funniest and friendliest partner ever. Those furry friends are considered as man’s best friend for nothing!

Some people think that owning a dog is hard and expensive but actually it is easy and fun! All you need is love to take care of them.

I have become quite experienced with taking care of dogs and learned few tips and tricks, so here are 17 hacks that a first time dog owner should know and try.

1. Taking Care of Dog’s Teeth

Nobody want their dog to have a stinky breath. A dog’s teeth need to be cleaned just like a humans . So, to get rid of this add some parsley and coconut oil in their food.

2. DIY Dog Feeder

Getting your dog a feeder can be expensive. No worries you can make that on your own. Just follow the bellow mention steps:

• Take 2 bottles and cut a hole on one of the bottle using a scissors. Then cut the bottle as shown in the picture. Allow enough space to put dog food inside.

• Next step is to cut other bottle in half. Fill its lower half with pet food. Then close both the pieces together and unscrew it lid and place it in the hole that we made on the other bottle.

• That’s it, it saved a lot of your money because all you need is 2 bottles, a scissors and dog food.

3. Protect shoes from dog bite

Dogs could be irritating when they bite your shoes and actually, tear them badly. You don’t want your little buddy to bite your shoes. A simple hack for first time dog owner to protect your shoes it to give them a tennis treat ball. All you need to do is:

• Cut a small part of tennis ball and fill it with treats your dog love! They’ll play with it entire day.

4. Hack to Take a Perfect Snap with Your Dog

Taking a gorgeous snap with your dog can be tough, but we make it simple for you. Just hold a treat in your hand in which you are holding your phone. Dog will focus on the treat, and you can take perfect snap to post it on social media!

5. DIY Dog Bed

Don’t throw away your old clothes instead use them to make your dog a fluffy bed. You can also turn them into sweaters for dog during winters.

6. Lint Rollers

You are about to leave for an important meeting, and you saw your dog’s hair all over your clothes. Now what to do? A simple yet effective hack to remove the hair from clothes is to use lint rollers. Trust me, if you have a dog then, lint rollers are your best friend.

7. Remove dog hair from couch using rubber gloves or squeegee

If you are first time dog owner and your dog sheds a lot than do try these hacks to remove hair from furniture, carpet, couch, etc.

• Use dampened rubber gloves by running your hands over the couch or carpet to get all the hair of your dog on rubber gloves.

• You can also use squeegee to wipe off the hair. Take your squeegee and start scraping it on your carpet. You will see clumps of pet hair which you can easily remove it with your hands.

There are actually many methods to remove pet hair but these two are my personally used and favorite. So, must give them a try.

8. Make your dog shampoo last longer

Take a bottle and fill it half with water. Then put your dog shampoo in it. Your diluted dog shampoo is ready. Mix it well before use.

9. DIY dog stain cleaner

Don’t you get annoyed when your little buddy makes your carpet dirty? . Don’t worry, you can clean carpet pet stain and odors with this natural method. Just sprinkle some baking soda on the stain and leave it for about 20-25 minutes. Then, vacuum that area. It will remove the stain and odors.

10. Baby wipes for paw cleaning

To get rid of muddy paw’s of your dog, you can use baby wipes for loosening the mud and dirt from their paws.

11. Trim your dog nails

This is a very important grooming step for your dog. Long nails can cut skin, cause pain and injury to your dog. Trim dog’s nail to help them stay healthy and happy.

12. Avoid feeding your dog everything

Stop giving your dog extra treats like candy, gum, sugar cookies, sweets, etc they can be deadly for your dog’s health.
So if you want to keep your little buddy healthy avoid these kinds of food especially which contains sugar.

13. Remove ticks from dogs

When your dog has a habit of going out in the environment than it might possible that they get ticks in their body. So a quick solution to this problem is to use pointed tweezers to get rid of ticks from your dog’s skin. After pulling out ticks you can use rubbing alcohol to wipe that area. You can also use vinegar to remove ticks.

14. Protection of dog’s paw:

• In summer season:

Dog’s paw are very delicate, there is a risk that they might burn their paws during hot days. You can follow one of the below mentioned method for this problem:

  • Apply paw wax
  • Buy socks for dog’s paw
  • Walk on grass instead of hot surface.

•  In winter season:

No matter how brave, and tough your dog is you should always protect them from snow, ice, as it dries out their paws. You can make them wear dog winter boots, you can also apply Vaseline on their paws to reduce the risk of frostbite.

15. Build a small pet door

Having a small pet door is suitable for you! It is a great way to give your dog freedom to go outside whenever he wants to go pee, he will not disturb you to open the door. It also makes them healthier!

16. Prevent earaches

Prevent your dog from getting ear infections. Dry out his ear after a bath and swim, or put cotton balls on dog’s ear before taking a bath to prevent earaches. Don’t use any DIY methods for preventing ear infections instead take your dog to veterinarians.

17. Avoid extra treats

Extra treats are very harmful for your dog’s healthy. It shortens your dog’s life. So, keep your pet slim will not only make your dog active but also protect them from joint problems.
